Barcelona hosts Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday night 16-04-2024 in the Champions League semifinals 2023–24 season.

Barcelona has been in outstanding form since Xavi revealed that he would be leaving his position as head coach this summer. In 13 games across all competitions, the team has gone undefeated while picking up 10 victories.

The iconic former midfielder is still adamant about leaving, but the Catalan team's management is still holding out hope that Xavi may be persuaded to stay on till the end of the season. For the time being, though, the attention is on the remainder of the season as Barcelona competes for two titles.

Barcelona leads this match 3-2 after Raphinha stole the show in the first leg in Paris, scoring a brace, and Andreas Christensen scoring the game's winning goal in the 77th minute.

The Catalan team was shockingly eliminated in the group stages of the 2021–22 and 2022–23 Champions League competitions. They haven't advanced past the quarterfinals since the 2018–19 season, when Liverpool defeated them in the champions league game, and their last final appearance came in 2015, when they triumphed over Juventus to win the trophy.

Barcelona has a 6-1 advantage over PSG in their head-to-head record overall, having defeated the French team 4-1 at home during the first leg of the last-16 back in February 2021.

Xavi's team comes into this game fresh from a 1-0 La Liga victory over Cadiz on Saturday. They have also won their past four league games. Real Madrid, on the other hand, leads second-place Barcelona by eight points going into next weekend's El Clasico.

PSG played their last Ligue 1 match at home against Clermont on April 6, drawing 1-1 to share the points and go ahead of the competition by 10 points.

Another Ligue 1 title will be won this season, barring an incredible event. However, the Champions League is the trophy that this team truly wants, and it would be quite the narrative if a certain Kylian Mbappe could help the team win the competition as a farewell present.

Team News

With just eight points from six games, Luis Enrique's team was hardly impressive in the competition's group stage. Nevertheless, they managed to place second behind Borussia Dortmund and defeated Real Sociedad 4-1 in the round of 16.

While they reached the champions league game in 2019–20, PSG has not advanced past the round of sixteen in any of their previous three editions. They were last seen in the semi-finals in 2020–21.

Both teams would have preferred to be on this side of the draw, as the victor will play either Atletico Madrid or Borussia Dortmund for a spot in the champions league. However, the capital team will be mindful of the magnitude of the task they face against an in-form Barcelona.
