It's official: Xbox-only titles will soon be available on PS5 and Nintendo Switch thanks to Microsoft. It's a part of a larger strategy change that Microsoft is implementing in its gaming division to expand its game portfolio beyond Xbox systems.

Xbox games on the PS5, Microsoft Switch exclusivity |
Phil Spencer, the CEO of Microsoft Gaming, said on the official Xbox podcast, "We've made the decision that we're going to take four games to the other consoles." Strangely, Microsoft won't reveal the names of the four games; however, it does claim that two of them are smaller, community-driven games.
Xbox-exclusive games
The first two games will be Hi-Fi Rush and Pentiment, followed by Sea of Thieves and Grounded, according to sources familiar with Microsoft's intentions. While Spencer asserts that the company's practice of releasing Xbox exclusives hasn't changed, he also predicts that the industry will see a decline in console exclusives over the next ten years.
"I do think that exclusive games, that is, games that are limited to a single piece of hardware, are going to be a smaller and smaller part of the game industry over the next five or ten years," Spencer states on the Xbox podcast.
PS5 and Nintendo Switch games
Microsoft is presenting this action as merely "testing the waters," so to speak, with four titles that the business can learn from. However, there have been speculations indicating that Microsoft has much more ambitious plans for cross-platform games. Microsoft has been considering releasing Indiana Jones on the PS5 months after the Xbox launch, while Starfield was rumored for the PS5. I wrote on this earlier this month.
